Rebecca Marie DeViva, known and loved as Becky, was born on April 1, 1951, in Norfolk, Virginia, and passed peacefully on April 26, 2026, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She lived a life full of love, faith, and care for others, leaving a mark that will not fade.
Becky had a way of making people feel at home. Her warmth was steady. Her kindness was real. She gave her time, her energy, and her heart without hesitation. Her faith shaped how she lived each day. As a devoted member of The Shelter Christian Church, she didn’t just speak about love, she showed it. She welcomed people as they were. She gave grace freely. She served with quiet strength and a joyful spirit.
Becky carried many talents and put them to work in every season of her life. She spent eight years at Grandpa Joe’s, where her cakes became a favorite for so many. She also worked as a hairstylist and a housekeeper, taking pride in doing things well. No task was too small. No effort was half-given. She showed up fully, every time.
Children held a special place in her heart. She knew how to comfort them, listen to them, and make them feel safe. She had a gentle way about her that drew people in. Being a mother meant everything to Becky. Her son Kenny was her world. She loved him deeply and stood by him always.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Martha White.
She leaves behind her husband, Joe DeViva, her partner of 26 years, who shared in her life, her faith, and her love. She is also remembered by her children: Kenny (Leslie), Tony (Valerie), Cyndi, and Joe (Holli); her sister Terry; her brothers Ray and Jerry; and her grandchildren Kenny, Jaden, Story, Novella, and Kaitlyn, who brought her so much joy. She also leaves one great-grandchild, Messiah, along with many nieces, nephews, family members, and friends who will carry her memory forward.
Becky loved the Lord with her whole heart, and she lived that out every day. She showed up for people and made life feel warmer. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.
Rest well, Becky. Your light lives on.
