Michael Sherwood Gayle, 80, of Shacklefords, Virginia passed away April 21, 2026. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and dove hunting.
Michael was preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Joan Gayle; his parents, Harry and Otelia Gayle; his sister, Ruby Ann Marshall; his stepson, William C. Newcomb.
He is survived by his sons, David Gayle (Jessica), and Michael P. Gayle (Elizabeth); his stepson, Bruce Newcomb (Christine); his sister, Betty Walden; his grandchildren, Clay, Brandy, Amanda, Tricia and Casey Newcomb, Courtney, Kimberly, Michael Gayle Jr, Ethan, and Crystal Gayle; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends 5-8 Thursday April 30th 2026 at the Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West point VA. 23181. A funeral service will be held 1 PM Friday, May 1st 2026 at Poroporone Baptist Church, 30071 The Trail, Shacklefords, Va. 23156. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
