Joanne Margaret McManimen Janney of New Kent County was a devoted single Mother, Grandmother, and dear friend to many. She passed away peacefully on Monday, April 13, 2026 surrounded with love from her family.
Joanne was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. She loved her heavenly father and had great faith in the promises of his Son. Joanne had a warm happy smile and loved to laugh. She fought many health battles throughout her life with fierce courage and faith, and always kept a positive attitude. She had a successful career of almost 38 years with the federal government that she really enjoyed.
Joanne was preceded in death by her son Shane Janney, her brother Gary McManimen, and her parents William and Peggy McManimen.
She is survived by her son Ryan Janney, her daughter-in-law Jamie Janney, brother Bill McManimen, and her grandchildren, Alexis Janney, Summer Janney, Will Janney, and Ellie Janney.
Joanne had a passion for cooking and loved to make food for the ones she loved. She was proud of her Irish heritage and she always looked forward to celebrating St. Patrick’s day. Joanne enjoyed genealogy, reading, and gardening but more than anything else she loved her family and found so much joy in her grandchildren. To her family there will never be a more loving, thoughtful and resilient woman.
Joanne will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
