Barbara Ann Randall, 89, of Newport News

Barbara Ann Randall, born on March 22, 1936, in Norfolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2025, in Chesapeake, Virginia. She was 89 years old.

Barbara devoted much of her life to being a homemaker, a role she cherished deeply. In addition, she worked various small jobs throughout her life, including positions at Attic Treasures and Irwin’s Drug Store. Her work was always approached with dedication and care.

Barbara was an avid and competitive bowler, spending many joyful hours in a bowling league alongside her late husband, Randy. She served the league as treasurer for many years. Her passion for antiques was well known. She was a keen collector who could often be found hunting for treasures. Additionally, she found delight in playing Bingo, participating in citizens-band radio activities, and dancing at the Moose with her beloved husband Randy.

A member of Portsmouth Moose Lodge 898 and a believer in the Presbyterian faith, Barbara lived her life with faith and community at its heart. She was a proud survivor of breast cancer, demonstrating resilience and strength.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, James Russell Creech, Sr. and Mary Ann Verebely (White), her son James Thomas Randall (Angel), and her husband Randy, whose memories she cherished deeply.

Barbara leaves behind her children, Barbara Valerie Smith (Bob) and Robert Duane “D” Randall, along with her treasured grandchildren: Lara Sorich (David), Michelle Chapman (Quinton), Sara Bolling (Kevin), David H. Smith (Shelley), Christopher Shaun Randall, Kayla Gillitzer (CJ), Jakob Randall, Samantha Barrett (Michael), Genevieve Prager (Erik), and Randy Annis (Carolina). She was also blessed with 19 great-grandchildren, Matilda Sorich, Charlie Sorich, Albie Sorich, Henry Sorich, Avery Moffitt (Josh), Riley Mae Chapman, Payson Chapman, Kali Chapman, Ivy Chapman, David L. Smith, Harrison Smith, Calvin Smith, Abbey Parrish, Zachary Prager, Ayden Prager, Mason Gillitzer, Lilly Gillitzer, Lennox Annis, and Tiegan Barrett who brought her immense joy, as did her nephew, Thomas Morris, and her niece, Susan Romubio.

The family invites all who knew and loved Barbara to celebrate her life at Altmeyer Funeral Home – Southside Chapel on Saturday, December 6th. Visitation will begin at 12:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM with reception to follow. A graveside service will be held on December 8th at noon at Woodlawn Memorial Garden. Barbara Ann Randall will be remembered for her warmth, her love for family and friends, and her zest for life. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
