It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Christopher Douglas Young, our beloved son, brother, and friend, who left us on October 23, 2025, at the age of 48.
Born on September 24, 1977, in Daytona Beach, Florida, Christopher spent his formative years immersed in the vibrant culture of his hometown before relocating to Norfolk, Virginia, where he lived for the past 11 years.
Christopher was predeceased by his father, Thomas D. Young, and his grandparents, Glen and Josephine Young of Daytona Beach, Florida.
He will be lovingly remembered by his mother and step-father, Rita and Chris Chandler, his sisters, Jessica Chandler (Chris Lafferty), Kelley Cease (Bradley Cease), and Sara Chandler, as well as his two nieces and one nephew. He leaves behind numerous dear friends across Virginia and Florida, whose lives were touched by his kindness and unwavering friendship.
Growing up in Daytona Beach, Christopher was often found around his grandparents’ restaurant, the Humdinger, where the sounds and stories of visitors left a lasting impression on him. Yet, it was the world of automobiles that truly captured his imagination. From a young age, he could effortlessly identify the make and model of every car that passed by. This passion led him into a career in the automotive business—a field where he excelled and devoted many years of his professional life.
In recent years, Christopher took on a new challenge by returning to school to pursue a degree in Human Resources Management. His innate ability to show genuine care and concern for others assured those who knew him that he would have thrived in this new endeavor.
Christopher had a unique gift for making people feel valued and supported, qualities that endeared him to all who crossed his path.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Sentara Norfolk Heart Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion during Christopher’s final days.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, allowing all who knew and loved Christopher to gather in remembrance and honor his legacy of warmth, generosity, and devotion to those he held dear.
