Ruby Mae Zimmerman, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 15, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 69. Born on August 30, 1956, in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, Ruby lived a life rich in love and connection.

As a devoted stay-at-home mother, Ruby dedicated herself to nurturing her family with unwavering love and care. Her gentle spirit inspired those around her, and she instilled in her children and grandchildren the values of kindness, compassion, and resilience. Family was at the heart of everything Ruby did, and her legacy lives on through her husband Paul Zimmerman; her children Joseph Gilson, Joshua Gilson, Rachel Joyner, Victoria Zimmerman and Anthony Zimmerman; her cherished grandchildren Alyiah, Serena, Caden, Braylon, and Gia; and many more extended family members and friends.

Ruby had a boundless love for all creatures, especially dogs, and found particular joy in her loyal beagle, Daisy. Her days were often filled with watching British drama shows, which transported her to new worlds, and enjoying the peaceful act of fishing and knitting. Ruby’s humble hobbies and interests illuminated the beauty in everyday moments and served as an inspiration to all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Zimmerman, whose fond memories she carried close to her heart.

Family and friends will gather for a celebration of Ruby’s life at a time and day to be announced. They will remember her with loving reverence, sharing stories and laughter in honor of a life lived with grace, warmth, and unyielding devotion.
