Lewis Donald Ludden, a cherished husband, brother, stepfather, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the age of 59. Born on September 26, 1965, in Olean, New York to Donald and Rosemary Ludden, Lewis lived a life full of love, adventure, and dedication.
Lewis dedicated much of his professional life to serving others as a manager for a home health center. His work was a testament to his compassion and commitment to improving the lives of those around him. He approached each day with a positive attitude and a desire to make a difference.
Outside of work, Lewis had a passion for traveling and exploring new places. His adventures took him far and wide, enriching his life with diverse experiences and memories. A creative spirit at heart, he found joy in making his own soap, a hobby that reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and the simple joys in life.
Lewis’s legacy is deeply felt by his loving wife of 30 years, Julia Ludden, who stood by his side through life’s journey. He leaves behind his mother Rosemary Ludden; beloved stepchildren, Elizabeth Vernon (Aaron), Stephen Hitchcock (Tonya), Roy Hitchcock, and Greg Hitchcock, along with three grandchildren and one great-grandson who brought immense joy to his life. His brothers, Tony Ludden (Lori) and Andrew Ludden (Tracy), and his sister, Lisa Hall (Randy), will forever hold dear the memories they shared with him. Lewis is preceded in death by his father Donald Ludden.
A private family service will be held on August 24 to honor Lewis’s life. Family and friends are invited to gather for a Celebration of Life on October 12 at The Hall in Allegany, New York.
