Shurena Yvette McDaniel, born on December 29, 1984, in Virginia, was called home on July 17, 2025, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the venerable age of 40. Her remarkable journey spanned over many short years, leaving an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know her.

Shurena dedicated much of her life to serving others as a Direct Support Specialist, passionately engaging in social work within her community. Her unwavering commitment to helping those in need was a testament to her compassionate and nurturing spirit. Her contributions to the lives she touched can never be overstated; her absence will be deeply felt.

Though her professional endeavors were significant, Shurena’s life was truly centered around her beloved children, friends, and family. She is survived by her five treasured children: Jamarion, Si’la, Jaylen, Zach, Jr., and Zae. Her siblings, including Darrio McDaniel Sr., Zeanna Clements, Mike Oldham, Levorce McCloud, Stephanie White, terry Lamont White, Zelb White, and Felicia Daniels, as well as a host of friends and family members, are left to cherish her incredible memory.

Shurena possessed a unique zest for life that extended to her simple pleasures. An astute channel surfer, she had an uncanny ability to find something captivating on television at any hour. Her love for scary movies was legendary, often indulging in cinematic frights from dusk to dawn. With an amazing personality to match her vibrant spirit, Shurena brought joy and laughter to everyone fortunate enough to share in her company.

Preceded in death by her parents, Vanessa A. McDaniel and Willie F. Williams, Jr., as well as her siblings; Tyrone White and Sheldon Hawkins. Shurena now rests in eternal peace, reunited with them in the hereafter.

Funeral arrangements are still in the process of being finalized, and the family will announce details of a public visitation at a later date. During this time of mourning, the family extends their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they have received.

Shurena Yvette McDaniel will forever remain in our hearts, a shining example of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community. May her soul find eternal peace.
