Ivan Darryl Hickman, born on December 12, 1958, in Queens, NY passed away peacefully on July 6, 2025 in Newport News, VA, at the age of 66.
Ivan was a man of many talents and interests, known for his humor and stubborn nature. He proudly declared himself “Harlem to the end,” a testament to his deep roots and love for his New York upbringing.
After serving as a jet mechanic in the Air Force, Ivan dedicated much of his professional life to ensuring the safety and security of others as a Security Officer. His work was marked by diligence and a steadfast commitment to those he served.
In his personal life, Ivan found joy in the simple pleasures. He had a profound love for music, often spending hours listening to his favorite tunes or playing the piano. Evenings were frequently spent watching movies with his beloved wife, Ann Corbin-Hickman, creating cherished memories that will endure in her heart.
Ivan was preceded in death by his parents, Benny and Doretha Hickman, and his brother, Brian. He leaves behind a loving family who will miss him dearly: his devoted wife, Ann; his daughter, Andrea Hickman-Jones, and her husband, Edward; his siblings, Jason, Cynthia, and Gordon, Kristin and Carlton.
Ivan’s legacy is one of laughter, resilience, and an unwavering connection to his roots. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.
