Steven C. Bohannon Sr., 75, of Shacklefords, VA passed away June 27, 2025.
Born on January 11, 1950, Steve grew up in West Point, VA, with a brief time spent in Salisbury, MD. Known and loved by many from an early age, Steve was a standout athlete, playing both football and baseball throughout his school years. After graduating high school, he attended Chowan College before serving as a reservist in the National Guard for six years.
Steve is survived by his three children, Tara (Scott), Christie, and Steven Jr.; his grandchildren, Taylor, Madison, Autumn, Ava, and Blake; his brothers, David (Cindy) and Bill (Teresa); his sister, Jane (Tommy); and his beloved dog, Susie. He also leaves behind many extended family members and countless friends who will miss his humor, kindness, and spirit. He was preceded in death by his mother, Juliet Bohannon and father, Willie (Jr.) Bohannon.
Following in the footsteps of generations before him, Steve pursued his lifelong dream of becoming a logger. He worked tirelessly in the logging industry for over 40 years. After retiring from the logging business, he launched Trees by Steve, a tree care service he owned and operated for the next 10 years before fully retiring.
In retirement, Steve found joy in the simple things—spending time with his children, grandchildren, and his faithful dog, Susie. His greatest pride and joy was his family. He adored his children and grandchildren beyond measure. Whether he was making the grandkids laugh, playing like one of them, or sharing stories from his past, he brought warmth and energy to every room.
In his later years, though faced with health challenges, Steve embraced each day with grace and a smile. He loved sitting outside feeding the birds, tinkering with small engines, and spending time with Susie by his side.
