Elizabeth Jones Craddock, 86 of Charles City County, Virginia left her earth suit suddenly and entered eternal rest on June 19, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James and Alice Jones and maternal grandparents, Thomas and Girlie Christian Johnson. Her parents, Wallace Wyatt Jones and Hallie Johnson Jones. Her brothers; Walter, Lewis, James Roosevelt, Welton David and Lloyd Clinton Jones. She married William M. Craddock on April 23, 1960, and they were married 24 years prior to his passing on October 25, 1984.
She was a lifelong resident of Charles City County. At an early age Elizabeth accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and was baptized at the Little Elam Baptist Church, Charles City, Virginia. She attended Ruthville High School.
She was a strong, independent woman, who did not mince her words. If she liked you, you knew it and if she didn’t you knew that also. If she had love for you her love was deep and unconditional. If you ask for her opinion, be prepared for the response. She loved the color burgundy and gold, she loved hummingbirds, butterflies and cardinal birds. She loved animal print clothing and loved wearing wedge heel shoes up until her illness. She was an avid flower gardener who had many flowers of various types around her home, and was known as “Ms. Greenthumb’s.”
She loved to fish with her mother when she was living, with her husband in his boat, on the banks of the Chickahominy River or the Chesapeake Bay pier or on a party boat. She loved the mountains and enjoyed many scenic rides to Skyline Drive and West Virginia. She loved casino trips from beginning to end with family and friends. Many times, frying chicken for the journey, excited for every anticipated break along the way.
She is survived by her devoted son, Tony Craddock; a stepdaughter, Jacqueline E. Johnson; a devoted niece, Linda Ghee; a very special great-niece, Tanika Ghee; and a very special great-great nephew, Dylan Crawley. Brother-at-heart Anthony Ghee; Sons-at-heart, Jason Johnson and Reverand David L. Banks Sr; Sisters at-heart, Lou Ethel Craddock and Hazel Otey; and a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA 23140.
