James H. Ghee, Jr., affectionately known as “Junnie” or “Mutt”, was born in Charles City County, VA on June 2nd, 1948. He passed away at the Hanover Health and Rehabilitation Center on June 14th, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, James H. Ghee, Sr., mother, Emma C. Ghee, and sister at heart, Grace B. Jones.
Junnie grew up in Charles City, VA, graduating from Ruthville High School in 1966. After graduating, he worked at Reynolds Metal Company, where he was employed for over 30 years. During his retirement, he worked for the Charles City Public School System as a bus driver. Junnie was a car enthusiast who spent time at the racetrack and worked on cars as well. He enjoyed traveling to Daytona and Myrtle Beach and watching his favorite team, the Redskins. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted and loving wife, Odessa; a brother at heart, Michael Brown (Barbara); his children, Karen Ghee, Brian Ghee (Shereen), Dwayne Ghee, Sr. (Cheryl), Lashawn Murdock, James Ghee III, and Alysia Greene; mother-in-law, Dolores Brown; grandchildren, Dwayne Ghee, Jr., Michelle Ghee, Ricky Bradby, Sheree James, Keishaun Cotman, Saquan Bradby, and Montas Murdock, and a host of great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
