Catherine Carlton Tyson, 94, of Mattaponi, VA passed away May 7, 2025.
Catherine was a lifelong resident of Mattaponi, VA. She was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School and then went on to work briefly at C&P telephone company, Busch Gardens and Beacon Linens. Her main passion was being a mother and homemaker.
Catherine enjoyed crewel embroidery, flowers (especially azaleas), jigsaw puzzles, music, NASCAR racing, travel, cooking and baking, doll houses, treasuring family and friends and stamp collecting. Her home was her castle, filled with love, humor, kindness, beauty and faith.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bernard Tyson; parents, Eugene and Helen Carlton; brothers, Daniel, Raymond, and Jeff Carlton.
Catherine is survived by her children Joe Tyson, Gail Wallace (Tony), Ann Best, Chris Tyson (Ginger); grandchildren, Sharon Fulford (Brent) of Cobbs Creek, VA, Heather Williams (Tim) of Colorado Springs, CO, Holly Wyatt (Jeremy) of Kyle, TX, Brandon Tyson of Mattaponi, VA, Ashley Tyson of Columbia, MO, Bernard Tyson Palomino and Catherine Tyson Palomino of Cabo San Lucas, MX; great-grandchildren Bryce Fulford, Brooklyne Fulford, Timothy Williams, III, Logan Wyatt, Emma Williams, and Abby Wyatt; a sister Charlotte Bristow and numerous nieces and nephews.
