Carl K. Miles, Jr., 80, departed this life on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Born on July 22, 1944, he was the son of the late Carl K. Miles, Sr. and Effie Adkins Jefferson Miles.
In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brother, William “Sonny” Jefferson, and sister, Peggy Holmes.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Nancy B. Miles; his daughter, Lori M. “Hosey” Diaz (Alfredo); his son, Joe “Crow” Miles; five grandchildren, Juan Diaz (Nicole), Kelly Miles, Isis Barrett (Scott), Evelyn Abarca (Carlos), and Chino Diaz (Diana); and ten great-grandchildren, including one devoted great-grandson, Emery Diaz. Also surviving are his devoted great-niece, Kara “Hunny Bunny Miles” Canaday; his sister, Maurica Canaday (Alvin); brother-in-law, Pete Britton; sister-in-law, Sharon Hart (Billy); many nieces, nephews, cousins; and dear friends, including Leonard Kloske and his daughter Ashley.
Affectionately known as “Bubba” to his family, Carl was well known for introducing himself proudly as “C.K.M, Jr.” He was an avid New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, and his love for horses was a lifelong passion. Carl was a dedicated member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and co-founded the Cattail Hunt Club alongside his father and brother.
Carl joined Samaria Baptist Church at an early age and was an enrolled citizen of the Chickahominy Indian Tribe.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Riverview at Appomattox, Hopewell, VA, and Gentiva Hospice for their compassionate care.
