Lucille “Lorraine” Banks peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, March 24, 2025. She took her place where there is no longer any pain nor suffering. She was born on June 30, 1948, the beloved daughter of Mary E. Morris, in Williamsburg, Virginia.
“Lorraine,” as she was affectionately known, was a proud graduate of Bruton Heights School. At an early age, she dedicated her life to Christ and became a faithful member of Union Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Virginia. She served diligently on the Pastor’s Aide committee, embodying her unwavering commitment to her faith and community until her health began to decline.
Lorraine, a longtime resident of Newport News, became a staple in her neighborhood and community. She found joy in spending time with her family and close friends and was known for her caring nature. She often looked out for and nurtured the children of her neighbors and friends.
Lorraine will be fondly remembered for her sharp wit, compassionate spirit, and unwavering love for helping others. She possessed a remarkable ability to forge connections, making friends wherever she went. Her dedication to service extended beyond her immediate community, as she was a longtime and generous volunteer with the Girl Scouts, positively impacting the lives of countless young women.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her devoted husband of fifty-two years, Marvin L. Banks; beloved daughters, Regina Banks and Tahitia Banks; brother Vincent A. Morris, Jr. (Carol); sister Shelly R. Morris; and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many dear friends.
