Elizabeth Miles Dillard, 97, of Charles City, and Stony Creek, VA, gained her wings on Monday, March 17, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Enous & Clara Miles.
Elizabeth grew up and did her schooling in the Charles City Public Schools system, coming out of Ruthville High School. Once out of school she met and married the love of her life, Mr. Herbert J. Dillard. Together, the two of them worked hard to run and maintain the Dillard Family Farm in Stony Creek, VA.
Elizabeth had quite the feisty spirit. She was one of the best cooks around, known for her homemade bread. It did not matter if it was white, wheat, loaf or rolls, if it was bread, she mastered it. When not cooking or helping around the farm, Elizabeth enjoyed crocheting. She would crochet beautiful bedspreads and share them with family and friends. She will certainly be missed by her family and friends.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Herbert J. Dillard; three sisters, Virginia, Edith and Mina; two brothers, Wilford Miles, Sr., and David Miles. She is survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 11AM Thursday, March 27, 2025, at Gilfield Baptist Church, 6640 Church Lane, Charles City, VA 23030. A viewing will be held one hour prior. Interment will take place on the Dillard Family Farm in Stony Creek, Virginia.
