David “Dave” Neal Callis, 61, went to walk with God in the early morning of February 22, 2025.
We hold in our hearts a father, husband, brother and friend, now in everlasting life.
He was a life long resident of York County and graduate of Christopher Newport University, he began his career with the City of Poquoson in 1990. He retired after 34 years with Poquoson as the Economic Development Director. He was most proud of his work with the City’s Parks and Recreation, the Poquoson Seafood Festival, association with many of the community’s civic groups, and expansion of several new businesses in Poquoson.
He carried a passion for golf throughout his life, it was more than a game to him – it was a way to connect, build lasting friendships, and cherished memories. He will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to the people in his life. His outgoing nature will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love and laughter will live on in all who knew him.
Dad, may the fairways always be green and the putts roll true on the course in Paradise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Moss Callis and Merle Anderson Callis; and his brother, Alan Keith Callis.
He leaves behind his wife, Hope; daughter Layne (Trevor), son David; grandson Brooks; and his brother John (Cindy); and many close friends.
The family invites you to join them for a Celebration of Life at Lebanon Christian Church, Thursday, March 6th, at 2pm.
