Lynda Faye Pollard, 77, of New Kent, Virginia, has officially left the building as of December 7th, 2024.
Though she insisted her obituary should simply read, “Lynda Faye Martin McGhee Saxon Corby Pollard is dead, here’s her services,” her family thought she deserved at least a few extra words—and maybe a laugh or two.
Lynda was a force of nature, known for her big heart and even bigger opinions. If you needed help, she’d give you the shirt off your back. No, that’s not a typo—Lynda had a knack for making you think you needed it more than she did. Her door was always open to anyone in need, whether you were a friend, family, or stray animal passing through.
She loved her family deeply (but let’s not kid ourselves—her true loves were Pepsi, crushed ice, Harley-Davidson motorcycles, her soap operas, and whichever furry friend was lucky enough to be her pet that week).
Lynda is now reunited with her parents, Dorothy R. Martin and Charles G. Martin, and her children, Robin M. Cornell and Charles “Buddy” McGhee. We hope they have plenty of Pepsi and crushed ice ready for her up there.
She leaves behind a lively crew of grandchildren—Ashley, John, Jeannie, Clint, Reanna, Desiree, Jeremy, and Alison—who will no doubt carry on her legacy of humor and hospitality. Her great-grandchildren—River, Brayden, Ava, Jacob, Hunter, Bristol, and Robert Jr.—will grow up hearing stories of the spitfire who loved them fiercely even from afar (and would have spoiled them rotten if she had the resources).
To honor Lynda, drink a cold Pepsi, watch an episode of Days of Our Lives, or take a leisurely motorcycle ride—helmets recommended.
Memorial services are TBD at this time.
In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choosing in her honor.
