Kasine Nathan Powers, 48, of Newport News

Kasine Nathan Powers (Whiting’s Funeral Home)

On October 13, 2024, Kasine Nathan Powers, the beloved son of Shirley Ann Powers and George Anderson, entered into eternal rest after a life marked by love, kindness, and connection. He began his earthly journey on October 30, 1975, in Brooklyn, New York, where he would go on to leave an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Affectionately known as “Kas” by his family and friends, Kasine was a man with a heart as big as his smile. He received his education through the Newport News Public School System and later found employment at Pepsi, where his love for people and his war-engaging personality shined through him. His gift of making others feel valued and heard brought joy to those around him.

Kas had an extraordinary ability to touch lives—his kindness, generosity, and uplifting spirit earned him deep respect and love from everyone he encountered. He had a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a kind word. He truly left this world a better place than he found it. His legacy of compassion, friendship, and love will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him. While he will be deeply missed, we find comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the arms of the Lord.

He was preceded in death by his dad George Anderson; maternal grandmother Mary Magdalene Toney-Powers; and nephew Dominic Powers.

With unwavering love and devotion for family, he leaves treasured memories with his beautiful daughters, Kasiya Powers and Kaleah Nailani Powers; sons, Alton Kasine Powers, Kelen Dominic Lee Powers, and Kayden Dominic Lee Powers; faithful mother, Shirley Ann Powers; beautiful sister Eureka Powers; brothers, Kareem Guillory and Kiewaun Gayle; nephew Deron Powers; aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

May his soul rest in everlasting peace.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 26, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
