Lemyra “Lee” Elizabeth Roberts Riley, 91, passed away Friday, September 13, 2024.
She was known as “Mimi” to her 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and many friends. Mimi is free from a body that had failed her. Mimi’s spirit will always be with us; her whisper, the wind in the leaves, her smile, the warmth of the sun.
Lee was the only child of John and Minnie Roberts, grew up in Washington D.C., and graduated valedictorian from Anacostia H.S. in 1951.
Mimi was predeceased by her husband, Paul and their youngest son, John. She is survived by her daughter and caregiver, Janice Addison-Jones (Bobbie) and son, Steven. Special thanks to Dr. P. Arthur Hoyt for his dedication and decades of commitment to her care.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, October 12, 2024 at The Peninsula Pentecostals, 404 Sharon Drive, Newport News, VA. 23602 with Pastor J. R. Arango and Reverend John Thompson officiating.
Mimi will always be with us.
She whispers to us through the wind in the leaves; her smile, the warmth of the sun.
She comforts us with the sound of the rain that lulls us to sleep, and hers is the cool hand on our forehead when we’re not feeling well.
She is Christmas morning, and birthday cake with ice cream…….she lives inside the laughter of children.
Nothing will come between us, not time, or space…….not even death.
