Joan M. Sweet, 93, of Williamsburg died September 7, 2024.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George A. Sweet and her grandson, Paul LeRose.
Born August 27, 1931, in Mineola, NY, Joan lived most of her life in New England. She and her beloved husband George raised their family in Connecticut and in 2000 moved to Williamsburg to be closer to family.
Joan was always an active member of her community, holding many volunteer positions. She sang with multiple choral groups and was an avid bridge player and talented needle worker. Joan’s intricate needlepoint Christmas stockings will be enjoyed by generations of family.
Family traditions and holiday gatherings were especially important to Joan. She always enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends.
Joan is survived by her children, Karen S. LeRose (John) and David G. Sweet (Sharon); grandchildren, Ellen LeRose (Ashish Aggarwal), Ben LeRose, Brandon Sweet, Ethan Sweet, and Travis Sweet; and 8 great grandchildren.
