Jerry Barnes Jr., 53 of Hopewell, VA ended his battle with diabetes and entered eternal rest on August 24, 2024 ,to be with the Lord. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age.

He was the second child of four, born of Thelma Barnes and Jerry Barnes Sr. on February 25, 1971, in Hopewell, Virginia. He attended Charles City County Schools. He was a supervisor for Atlantic Corrugated Box Company.

Boo, as he was affectionately called, was a person that never met a stranger. He shared love to the world and encouraged everybody. He had a way of making you feel good about yourself and life after just one conversation. Boo was sure to fill the shoes of a lawyer, counselor and financial advisor with his advice and words of wisdom. He also could have been a doctor, having the answers to any hair, skin and health advice needed. Not only did he appreciate people, but he also had a passion for cars. He collected all types of cars old and new. Though his favorite car was a mustang, his most special possession was his tow truck. He had a gift of remodeling cars to just collecting them. He was just a beautiful person inside and out. Boo was loved and will be truly missed by his family, friends and many others.

He leaves to cherish his memory to his son, Brandon Bowman; two daughters, Terri Johnson and Dymond Bess; mother, Thelma Brown Barnes; father, Jerry Barnes Sr.; step mother, Phyllis Barnes; one grandson, Orlando Johnson; one brother, Terry Barnes Sr.; two sisters, Danielle Allen and Cherry Barnes Randall; special friend, Belinda Blue; two brothers in law, Corey Allen Sr. and Earl Randall Jr.; two step sisters, Candice Booth and Kimberly Jones; one step brother, Timothy Booth and his wife Kimberly; along with a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephew, aunts and uncles, relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2024, at Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge, VA. Burial to follow in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
