Marguerite Theresa Sturtz, 95, of West Point, VA peacefully went to her Lord and Savior Friday, July 26, 2024.
She was born in Riverside, New York on February 9, 1929 where she later met her husband and spent the rest of her life in West Point, VA.
Marguerite was a devoted member of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she served as a volunteer receptionist and served as a sacristan for over 20 years. Her time as a sacristan was her greatest joy in life and was spiritually rewarding. Marguerite was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother to the entire family. Her wisdom and love will be sorely missed.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Mary Ochman; her husband, Thomas E. Sturtz Sr.; her son, Thomas E. Sturtz Jr.; and her sister, Virginia Schmitz.
Marguerite is survived by her two daughters, Joan Applegate and Carole Beasley (Wayne); six grandchildren, Brandon Beasley, Gary Beasley, Tracie Gates (Chris), Lynn Haurand (Ed), Paula Wilson (Robert) and Stephen Sturtz (Leslie-Ann); a daughter-in-law, Carla Sturtz; ten great-grandchildren, Audrey Spradling (Jason), Carlie Norkunas (Mark), Robert Wilson (Amber), James Wilson, Jackson Sturtz, Celeste Sturtz, Gabrielle Sturtz, Levi Sturtz, Connor and Hollie Gates; six great-great grandchildren, Josiah Alexander Spradling, Shaelynn Lee Spradling, Zoe Marguerite Norkunas, Lena Josephine Norkunas, Wraylan Scott Wilson, Tenley Ruth Wilson and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Point VA, with burial following in St. Theresa Catholic cemetery. The family will receive friends 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday night at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point VA with a Rosary service at 7 PM.
