Carolyn Lear Hitt, 80, of Williamsburg

Carolyn Lear Hitt (Bucktrout Funeral Home)

Carolyn Lear Hitt passed on July 24, 2024, after a lengthy fight with cancer. Born in Farmville, Virginia, October 14, 1943, to Milton G. Hitt and Nina B. Hitt (Nee Bass).

Carolyn lived virtually all her life in Virginia with education at the College of William & Mary. She first joined IBM but Virginia called and returned to Williamsburg where she worked with Colonial Williamsburg in their entertainment division. Her first specialty was conducting children’s tours, up to twenty children, single handed, she believed in discipline and got it!

Then on to major events, among her noteworthy productions were Barron Feats, Growing Board and other events largely around Christmas time where there could be an event every day in the month of December. She did it all with grace and good humor.

Carolyn leaves a devoted husband, Simon, a loving sister, Anne and brother in law, John; along with many cousins and their children, plus countless Virginian friends.
