Leslie “Mouse” Canaday, 87, of Charles City VA, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 18, 2024.
Leslie started driving trucks and hauling at the age of 16 and continued driving for the next 70 years. He was an avid NASCAR fan and loved nothing more than to sit under his shade trees behind his house waving to people driving by and spending time with his friends and family.
Leslie was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Juanita Canaday; three daughters, Karen, Fran and Marilyn Canaday; two sons that he never had, Pete Crewe (Mary) and Dave Henneman (Ruth); devoted friends, Allen Perkins Sr., Susan Towner and Bill and Bylinda McCabe; two sisters, Norma Perdue (Jesse) and Irese Whitehead; four brothers, Alvin (Maurica), Horace, Clayton (Velma), Glenn Canaday and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Samaria Baptist Church, 8130 Lott Cary Road, Providence Forge VA, with burial following in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Vincent Funeral Home, Providence Forge VA.
