George Fredrick Hake, 90, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2024. He was born in New Castle, Pennsylvania and had been a Newport News resident since 1973. He served his country honorably and retired from the U.S. Navy as a GMM1.
George was extremely talented through his expression of oil and water color painting. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of St. Jerome Catholic Church.
Mr. Hake was preceded in death by his parents, George and Margaret Hake; a son, James Hake; five brothers and five sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 72 years, Concetta Hake; two sons, George Hake (Yvette), and Christopher Hake (Betty); and one daughter, Laura Brinkley (Brian); all of Newport News, VA. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other extended family and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at St. Jerome Catholic Church by the Rev. George Prado. Inurnment with full Military Honors will follow at the church columbarium.
