June DeMyers, a loving mother of two daughters, entered eternal rest on Sunday, June 23, 2024. June was born on June 6, 1950, to the late Aline Woodley and Willie Green, in Surry, Virginia.
At an early age, she accepted Christ and joined Lebanon Baptist Church in Surry, Virginia. Upon relocating to Williamsburg, she joined hands in fellowship with New Zion Baptist Church.
June graduated from James Blair High School in 1969. Later in life, she returned to school to further her education and was seven credits away from obtaining her associate’s degree. She also modeled for a short time.
June loved music, puzzles, writing poetry and short stories, and watching western and shark movies. She also enjoyed going to the casino, traveling, and eating out. June loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and always wanted the best for them.
June is also preceded in death by her daughter Angela Claiborne.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories, her daughter Danielle Nickie Harris of Williamsburg, VA; granddaughters, Danielle N. Claiborne and Kenya M. Claiborne (Michael); three great-grandchildren, Za’Nyah R.A. Claiborne, Reginald A.J. Claiborne, and Angela A.R. Claiborne; siblings, Caroline Mason (Richard), Nancy Morrison, Thomas Wallace (Betty), Loretta Wallace-Townsend, Carrie Taylor, Modusta Wallace (Maylin), Allen Wallace, Alvin Wallace (Tiny), Sharon Taliaferro (Chris), and Lucy Carter; special friend David Givens; and a host of nieces, nephews, adopted grandchildren, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2024, at Whiting’s Funeral Home.
