It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Jose Miguel Irizarry, 82. He peacefully departed this world May 5, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 14, 1941 in Puerto Rico, Jose came to the United States as a young man. Though he held various positions, he ultimately decided on a career in transportation.
Jose was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His warm smile and caring heart endeared him to everyone he met. He was known for his love of boxing, wrestling and telenovelas. He had a passion for cooking and enjoyed spending quality time with his family.
He is survived by his devoted wife Cecilia and her children; Luis, Vladimir, Francisco, David, Stephanie, and Ruben, his children(from his first marriage to Ann) Christina and Tony, and siblings Carmen, Alex (Audeliz), Mandy (Armando), Judy (Judith) Mildred, Maggie (Margarita), Maritza, Mabel, Sonia, Maribel and predeceased and in loving memory; Gloria, Juan (Nono), Lucy and Efrain (Flaco).
Jose leaves behind a large and loving family including numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. His legacy will continue through the memories shared by those who knew him best.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, May 15 at Altmeyer Funeral Home, 5033 Rouse Drive, Virginia Beach from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with a memorial service to celebrate Jose’s life at 3:15 p.m. A light reception is to follow at Union Ale House, 2224 Virginia Beach Blvd. #113, VA. Beach.
May his soul find eternal peace and may his memory forever inspire. Rest in peace dear Jose, you will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved you.
