Gay Tabb White, 85, of Charles City

Gay Tabb White was born October 19, 1938, in Charles City, VA and departed this life on April 22, 2024, at VCU Health, Richmond, VA. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stuart G. White, parents, Alvin T. Jones and Ruth Tabb Jones, sister, Shirley Tabb Bailey and brothers-in-law, Ojune W. Bailey, Jr. and Jerome Holliman.

She was educated in Charles City and graduated from Ruthville High School in 1957. Gay was an active member of the Girls Glee Club where she shared her soprano voice.

Gay accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was a lifelong member of Elam Baptist Church. Gay was always willing to serve in any way needed and did so joyfully and faithfully until her health declined.

Gay’s love for cooking was an asset in her career in food services. She was employed by the College of William and Mary and Charles City Public School Division where she retired from. During her retirement years, Gay enjoyed crocheting, solving seek-and-find puzzles, writing letters (that would include poems), watching the Young and Restless watching SIFI movies and most of all reading her Bible. She had a God given gift of loving unconditionally and always sought out the good in people.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Ruth V. White (Gan) and Charles L. White (Man), sisters, Brenda Jones Cotman (Ronald), Linda Jones-Wood; grand-daughter, Sierra Munoz (Fernando); Great-great grandchildren, Kristina and Jason; one niece, Ruth Bailey Lane (Hannon); three nephews, William “Pete” Bailey, Christopher L. Jones, Jeremy L. Holliman; two great-nephews, Marc S. Jones ((LaCrecia) and Brandon D. Lane and a host of other relatives and friends; devoted friends, Althea Brown, Blanche Brown, Jessie Crewe, Clemmie Miller and Grace Woodley.

Interment took place in Union Cemetery, Providence Forge, VA.
