Charla Dee Thomason, born on November 17, 1981, in Danville, Virginia, passed away on April 24, 2024, in Chesapeake, Virginia, at the age of 42.
Charla, known for her sharp wit and unwavering dedication, served as Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3) in the U.S. Navy for 23 years, earning the respect and admiration of all who served alongside her.
Beyond her military career, Charla’s true passions lay in the love she held for her family and her beloved dogs. She was a master in the kitchen, whipping up delectable dishes, and had a knack for building things with precision and care.
Charla is preceded in death by her grandparents Leslie C. Young, Nancy P. Young, David McKee, Rubie McKee, Neil A. Thomason, and her aunt Kathy M. Cole. She is survived by her loving wife Ann M. Thomason, devoted son Dylan M. Thomason, step-daughters Miranda Cilento and Morgan Gormus, caring mother Leisa Thomason Payne, supportive daddy Michael L. Payne, father Charles N. Thomason, brothers Jayson Thomason (Sarah), Joshua Thomason (Brandi), Chuck McKee (Dawn), sisters Amy Thomason, Mary Lei Applegate (Hunter), nephews Joshua Thomason II, David Thomason, Evan Miller, niece Ember Thomason, uncle Carlton Young (Meghan), and uncle Jaime Cole.
