Margaret Ashley Roberts, 91, passed away December 4, 2023.
She was a lifelong resident of West Point, a town she dearly loved. Much of her life was lived within a three-block radius in downtown West Point. Her career life began at the Chesapeake paper mill in the payroll department for many years, and later worked with her husband at Roberts’ Exxon doing his bookkeeping.
Music was one of Margaret’s greatest pleasures in life. She began playing piano at 10 years old and would use that talent to serve the Lord for over 55 years in the First Baptist Church, and at the Vincent Funeral Home for over 25 years. Margaret was a devoted daughter, wonderful mother and grandmother, and friend to all, who loved the Lord dearly her entire life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Burnley Ashley and her husband, Franklin Roberts. Margaret is survived by her son, David Roberts (Diane); daughter, Margaret Via (Bert); three grandchildren, Mark Roberts (Jessica), Austin Roberts, and Erica Via; two great-grandchildren, Jacob and Joseph Roberts.
A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 9 at Sunny Slope Cemetery, 2440 King William Avenue, West Point, VA 23181.
