Darryl Barraclough, a devoted husband, loving father, and dedicated member of his community, passed away peacefully at his home in Virginia Beach, Virginia on November 12, 2023. He was born on June 10, 1955, in Tonawanda, New York. Darryl was 68 years old at the time of his passing.
After proudly serving as a Police Investigator in the United States Navy, Darryl retired in 1992. Following his retirement, he embarked on a new chapter in his life, working in security and later as an activities coordinator at Bayside High School. It was during his time at the school that he had the good fortune of meeting his beloved wife, Theresa.
Darryl was a man of many interests and passions. He had a deep love for baseball and enjoyed watching his son play sports. He was also actively involved in his church, Baylake United Methodist Church, where he found solace and strength in his faith. Darryl was a proud member of the American Legion.
Darryl will be dearly missed by his wife, Theresa Ann, and their children, Martin Brandon, Carl and Craig. He was also a loving stepfather to Lisa and Scott (Kimberly), and grandfather to an abundance of grandchildren. Darryl’s warm presence and caring nature touched the lives of those around him, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love.
Darryl was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Robert Barraclough and Ruth Mildred (Brock) Barraclough. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Baylake United Methodist Church, a place that held great significance in Darryl’s life.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, followed by military graveside service at Albert G. Horton Jr. Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
