James Braddock Wolford, 84, of Shacklefords, VA passed away November 15, 2023.
In 1954, Jim was a founding member of the Chuckatuck Fire Department. He was a former Virginia State Trooper from 1961 to 1972 and went on to serve as Sheriff of King William County from 1972 to 1984. In 1977, Jim graduated from the FBI National Academy. He was a 37 year Master Mason and a member of West Point Masonic Lodge #238 AF & AM. During this time he served as Worshipful Master of West Point Lodge #238 in 1991 and later served as District Deputy Grand Master for the 11th Masonic District in 1993. He loved woodworking, fishing and blacksmithing. Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Wolford; his parents, Oscar Obed and Effie Moyers Wolford and two brothers, Byron G. and Gene V. Wolford.
Jim is survived by his daughter, Karen Wright (Chris); a son Jamie Wolford (Julie); three grandchildren, Brad Wolford (Alexa), Bryce Wright (Lacy) and Cole Wolford; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Samuel Wright and James Walker Wolford; two sisters Joann Dale of Tiger, GA and Grace Atkins of Suffolk, VA.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 21 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, with a masonic service and celebration of life beginning at 11 a.m. Inurnment will follow in Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point.
