Alvin G. Miller, 55, of Barhamsville

Alvin G. Miller (Vincent Funeral Home)

Alvin G. Miller, 55, of Barhamsville, VA, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 26, 2023.

Alvin was a hardworking man who loved the outdoors. If there was an event or hobby that took place outside, you can rest assured, Alvin would be involved. He loved to garden and surprise people with his knowledge of plant names, just by a single sight of it. Being born and having roots in Tennessee, Alvin dabbled in the “mountain water”, preferably of the “Apple Pie” flavor.

One of his favorite pastimes was fishing and just enjoying the beauty of the water. Alvin enjoyed dirt biking and finding new paths through the woods. He always felt best when he was outside being active. There wasn’t anything Alvin couldn’t do with his hands. He could build anything he was tasked with and did it with a smile. He built bird feeders and kept them full, to be enjoyed by all types of bird species and the ever-annoying presence of a squirrel or two. Alvin loved his dogs and spoiled them rotten. He truly appreciated nature and all it had to offer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leander and Lyla Miller, and his brothers, Thomas, Terry and Roger. The family would like to apologize for the drop in Amazon stock, with the passing of Alvin!

Alvin is survived by those he shared a home with, his loving fiancé Kelly, Mckenzie, and their beloved dogs, Buckwild and Ziggy; two sisters, Anna Depew (Donald “Red”) and Irene Mellish; children, Roseanne, A.J., Josh, Hazel and Cowles; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held 3 p.m., Monday, October 30, 2023, at The River Church 8824, Richmond Rd, Toano, VA 23168. A viewing will be held one hour prior to services.
