Jordan Miles Carr, 12, of Chesterfield

Jordan Miles Carr (Vincent Funeral Home)

Jordan Miles Carr, 12, of Chesterfield, VA, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, unexpectedly on Wednesday July 5, 2023.

Jordan was a bright young kid who loved people. He was shy at times, but his big heart brought him out of his shell to help others with a smile, laugh, hand or prayer. At an early age, Jordan accepted Christ into his life and made it a point to spread Jesus’ love through him. When Jordan was a young fellow, he would often lift his hands in prayer and praise for anyone who needed it, especially his mother.

Jordan learned about the importance of family and friends. If you were his family, he loved you unconditionally. If you were his friend, he loved you like family. His love for people truly made him an empath. This gave Jordan great joy and sorrow because he truly took on the weight of others in an effort to ease their pain. It was the true lifestyle of empathy, that made Jordan loved by all.

Jordan had a sense of humor that would have you laughing for days. He would often lighten a serious situation with a joke, even if it were at his expense. The nature of a comedian came easily to Jordan. He constantly tried different accents and voices to either recite a TikTok video, or give voice to inanimate objects.

Just like any other preteen, Jordan had his own sense of fashion and style. He went from having his mother iron his t-shirts so everything fell just right, to gaining an eclectic taste in his attire. Jordan would wear different combinations that didn’t seem to work at first glance but exuded effortless style. His creative mind led him to designing and making his own clothes. He also didn’t mind letting his mother know when her outfit needed “some work!”

Jordan found a love for Cosplay and the idea that you could be anyone you wanted, and own it. His costume designs were so detailed and intricate, that you couldn’t believe it’s something he just threw together. Jordan would take cardboard, tape, markers, tulle, glue, paper, yarn, foil, saran wrap, or anything he could get his hands on and come out with a piece of art worthy to be on display, or on the runway.

Jordan was a perfectionist and it showed in his artwork. He would spend hours on a project and if it wasn’t to his liking…in the trash it went. There could be one thing off in his eyes, and it would be better served as scratch paper. His use of different mediums allowed his mind to expand across the horizon and bring his art to life.

Jordan also had a love for Star Wars. The fascinating sets and costumes lit a fire in his creativity. He had countless lightsabers and was still begging for more. His baby Grogu/Yoda collection were his babies that took on a life of their own and travelled wherever he went. Jordan couldn’t choose between the light or dark side, because he empathized with everyone and understood their background. The force was something Jordan felt and looked to use for good. He was able to meet one of his favorite characters from Star Wars: Clone Wars, Ahsoka Tano, at a recent Comicon/Cosplay event. It just so happened Jordan was actually wearing his Ashoka Tano costume that he made and stole the heart of the actress.

When he wasn’t working on a project, Jordan loved being a kid and spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed going roller skating and to the movies with his “Bestays.” They would spend time together playing, gossiping, watching videos and solving the world’s problems through deep conversation. He loved his cousins and thought of them as siblings. They were each other’s number one fan base and would be overjoyed when they could spend time together. He also enjoyed watching his favorite shows, Teen Titans Go, Big City Greens, Gravity Falls, Steven Universe, The Masked Singer, and of course Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: Rebels.

Jordan found out early on that “food is good!” Even though he was a beanpole, he could eat his meal and everyone else’s sitting at the table. Not sure where the food went, but it must have been his feet! Jordan had expensive taste in food! He would order a surf and turf and eat the whole thing. He loved his gourmet fries and would go to town on crab legs! Not only could he eat…Jordan could cook! He started small, making eggs for breakfast, and worked his way up to preparing pan seared salmon and asparagus, topping the menu off with baking a pound cake.

Jordan’s life was cut incredibly too short when measuring years, but he had so much life in those years, that his kind, compassionate, giving heart will be felt for years to come. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Verdell White, Odis & Merlene Carr; his “uncle bruh” Corey Davis; aunts, Barbara, Beatrice and Partheania “Polly”; his uncles, James and Lawrence.

Jordan is survived by his mother, Robin White Bowles; father, Kevin L. Carr; siblings, Olivia Carr and Kevin Carr, II; grandparents, Joyce and Frank Davis, and Linda J. White; aunts, Lanelle Jamison, Leanne White; uncles, Bruce Carr, James Jackson, Jr. (Bethany), Walter Jackson-Uncle and Godfather, Wayne Jackson, Brian Jamison (Blanca) and Allen White (Malia); his cousin-siblings, Ethan, Morgen, Journey, Yana and Izzy; beloved cousins, Durelle, A.J., Amira, Salim, Isaac and Elijah; godparents, Kimberley Bedwell, Martey and Darrell Boothe; his “bestays”, London and Mariah; his “tribe”, Ally, Ashley, Harley, Christian and Makayla; along with a host of honorary aunties and uncles, cousins and friends, especially his “Jordanisms” Fandom.

A celebration of life will be held noon, Saturday, July 22, 2023, at the W.T. Robinson/Sture G. Olsson Civic Auditorium and Fine Arts Center, 1040 Thompson Ave, West Point, VA 23181. A viewing will be held from 12pm-7pm, Friday July 21, 2023 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181.
