Larry R. Warfel, 89, passed away in his sleep on Sunday, March 5, 2023 after a long debilitating illness. Even though he was suffering, Larry remained concerned about his wife of 52 years, Betty, and was comforted by his faith in Jesus Christ.
Larry was born in Harrisburg, PA, where he lived until joining the U.S. Airforce after graduating high school. He proudly served his country for 11 years and was honorably discharged.
After his discharge, Larry moved to Newport News, VA where he met his wife, Betty. Larry and Betty lived in Newport News ever since and were long time members of Deer Park Baptist Church.
Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Ruth Warfel; his sister, Beverly Warfel Perry; his nephew, Keith Perry and stepson, Michael Duckett. He is survived by his daughters, Sandra Warfel Stinnet (John), and Patricia Ann Warfel; his stepdaughter, Debra Duckett Reams (Chris); his grandchildren, Nicole Reams and Michele Reams; his sister, Shirley Warfel Schmidt and nephews, Mike Perry, Bob Schmidt, John Schmidt and Steve Schmidt.
A Private Graveside Service was held at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
