On Saturday night, January 7, 2023, our beloved mother, Eunice Elaine Robinson, affectionately known as “Mama Nee,” entered into eternal rest at home with family by her side. Her life began on August 1, 1927, in York County, the only child born to the late Pearl Lee James.
Eunice was reared and nurtured in a Christian home. She accepted Christ as her Personal Savior at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church (Croaker). She was educated in York County Public School System. On October 22, 1944, she was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Floyd Robinson. Unto this union, they were blessed with two daughters, Jean and Connie.
Later, she moved her membership to Zion Baptist Church-Lightfoot, where she was the Mother of the church and served many years as a member of the Usher Board. She proudly wore that starched uniform, her gloves, and everything white from head to toe. Before her health failed, she became a member of the Pastor Aide. They later gave her the title of an honorary member. Mama Nee loved her Pastor, which did not go unnoticed by Connie and Jean. They jokingly would say that Pastor was the favorite and that they were pushed down to the numbers two and three. Mama Nee loved not only her children but everyone’s child. She did not wait until her last breath to tell you that she loved you. This was her daily talk. When asked what she wanted for Christmas, she stated that she wanted “More of God’s Love.” Eunice was a stay-home mother, later working part-time for a private family and lastly in housekeeping at Eastern State Hospital.
She is predeceased by her grandparents, Thomas and Virginia Bailey James; mother, Pearl Lee James; husband, Floyd Robinson; and sister-in-love, Alease Harrold.
Mama Nee’s memory will forever be cherished by her daughters, Deloris “Jean” Parrott and Constance “Connie” Cook-Hudson; grandchildren, Yolonda Parrott, Donna Huskey (Gregory), and Theodore Cook III (Crisane); great-grandchildren, Adrailya Owens (Sherrod), Clifford Curtis (Crystal), Nicole Curtis, Ciara Parrott, and Maxwell Huskey; great-great-grandchildren, Cameron Curtis, Candace Curtis, Harmony Owens, and Royal Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023, at Zion Baptist Church-Lightfoot. Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Robinson may be viewed from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Zion Baptist Church. Facial coverings are required for all services.
