John ‘s life journey came to an end on Friday, December 16, 2022 at his home. John leaves his loving wife, Christine, to cherish his memory. He was born in Hampton, Virginia to the late John & Emma C. Fischer.
John was a man of true substance, a man who made a positive difference in people’s lives. John was a beautiful human being so loved by his wife.
A lifelong resident of Virginia, at the age of 21, John began a career in the Newport News Fire Department, working his way up the ranks to Battalion Chief. John devoted 30 years to a career in the fire service and retired in 1999.
In his healthier days, John was a lover of golf & fishing. John adored being with his wife, Christine & Gianni, his dachshund.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by 2 wives, Judith & Karen Fischer. John leaves behind 4 siblings, Mary Ellis (Mike), Emma Beard (Donald), Edward Fischer (Karen), & Debra Giardina (John). He is also survived by a large extended family.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service with Masonic Rites will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at the funeral home by Chaplin Thomas Snyir. Interment with honors from Newport News Fire Department will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
