Location: Weymouth Funeral Home
Anne Lynch Millner, a long-time resident of Newport News, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. She was a native of Tazewell, Virginia, and attended Longwood University where her mother, grandmother, four sisters-in-law, and one daughter-in-law also graduated. Go Lancers!
She was predeceased by her husband, Billie Meriwether Millner; her parents, Ruth and Daniel W. Lynch, and her brother, Daniel Lynch Jr. She is survived by her four wonderful children and their families: Edward Millner and wife, Lisa; Meriwether Palmer and husband, Glenn; Marjorie Millner; Daniel Lynch Millner and wife, Tamara Matz; grandchildren, Katie Baskind and husband, Tim; Meriwether Arnett and husband, Alex; Emily Millner and partner, Chris; Lia Palmer and partner, Eric; Callie Palmer; Justin Umscheid; Billie Anne Umscheid and fiancé, Andrew; six great grandchildren; and Timmy, her faithful canine companion.
She was of strong faith and grew up in the Presbyterian Church where she maintained active membership across her various residences. When First Presbyterian Church in Newport News closed, she and her husband joined the Williamsburg Community Chapel where they enjoyed worshipping and learning from their pastor and friend, Bill Warrick. She continued to listen to his sermons via tape recorder after his passing, and participated in weekly bible study meetings, led by Chris Porter, which served as her lifeline in her later years.
In her final days, she shared with her children her appreciation for the fulfilling, beautiful life she had lived, her pride in the family tree she and Billie had built, and her unfailing faith in being called home to her Heavenly Father in His time.
