Robert Ashley Moore, 49, of New Kent went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 20, 2022, as the result of an automobile accident. Ashley was a 1992 graduate of New Kent High School and went on to attend Brevard College. A true outdoorsman, Ashley loved visiting the mountains, hunting, saltwater fishing, water skiing and “bare footing”. He enjoyed golfing, watching Nascar, and was quite gifted with culinary skills, often cooking up greens, cornbread, seafood and wild game. Ashley was an extraordinary storyteller and impersonator, someone who was constantly tinkering with a project, and an absolute “neatnik”.
Ashley worked for E.T. Moore Manufacturing Company for more than 20 years. His duties included all aspects of the company, ranging from precise salvage demolition to recover large antique timbers from gigantic, pre turn of the century textile mills in the New England area, to processing those materials in the firm’s mill shop for various client needs. Additionally, Ashley served as the company’s sales manager and personally handled all European clients. Later, as a skillful heavy equipment operator, he joined the firm of Godsey and Son.
Time with family was precious to Ashley. He had a heart of gold.
Ashley was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Jay Kraeer and Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Taylor Moore, Sr.
He is survived by his beloved children, Rachael and Turner Moore, and their mother, Sherry Dean Moore; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Taylor Moore, Jr.; siblings, Taylor (Andee), Jay Daniel, Sarah (Lee); many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive friends 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, November 28th at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, VA. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Tuesday, also at the funeral home and burial will follow in Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery, 5061 Hopewell Rd., New Kent, VA 23124.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hopewell Baptist Church Building Fund.
