Irene was a faithful member of Liberty Baptist Church in Lanexa, VA for over 50 years, serving in many roles such as Awana Leader, Sunday School teacher and Bible School teacher over the years. She attended Smithdeal Massey Business College, beginning her career at State Planters Bank. Irene was a homemaker for many years, before returning to work at age 47 and retiring from Richmond Memorial Hospital. She then worked for Advest, Inc., and many other part-time jobs over the years. Before the Alzheimer’s disease progressed, Irene was always the first to offer a ride to a doctor’s appointment or sit with friends and family, while their loved ones were in surgery. She prepared food, especially her signature macaroni and cheese and pound cake for Wednesday night prayer dinners or those with illnesses and grieving families. Irene was active in numerous senior groups over the years helping to plan day trips, attending women’s bible study luncheons even after she could no longer drive. She never knew a stranger and was always there for anyone in need. Her greatest love was her large family. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother. Irene was the most content and happiest when surrounded by her family for every holiday, birthdays or any occasion that brought her family together. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 7, 2022 at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge (New Kent), VA 23140. Funeral service will follow from 1:30 to 2:30 with internment immediately after at Washington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Liberty Baptist Church Building and Grounds Fund or to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
