José Francisco Davila, 60, of Newport News, passed away and into the arms of the Lord on May 20, 2022. José was preceded in death by his father, Domingo Malpica; uncle, Delfido Davila; and brothers, Jesus Manuel Davila, Reinaldo Davila, Diego, and Victor Adorno. He is survived by his loving wife, Irina Janeth Castillo; mother, Gladys Malpica; son, Christian Davila; uncle, Jose Davila; and siblings, Betzaida Adorno, Jacqueline Malpica, Domingo Malpica, Gladys Malpica, Alexandra Malpica, Lesvia Malpica, and Julio Malpica; and beloved dog and companion, Diesel.
José was a kind and generous husband, father, brother, son, nephew, uncle, and friend to all that knew him. He was humble in all of his actions and loved his family above all else. Though disabled, José was always working outside and was a industrious handyman. He was a volunteer at St. Jerome Catholic Church as well. He especially loved salsa music and could usually be found listening to it, no matter what he was doing. UFC fighting and boxing were also a favorite of his. His easy going personality and smile will be missed greatly by those who knew him.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26th, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Altmeyer Funeral Home-Denbigh Chapel, 12893 Jefferson Avenue, Newport News, VA 23607. A funeral mass will be held in José’s honor on Friday, May 27th, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 116 Denbigh Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23608. A graveside committal service will follow mass at 1:00 pm at Peninsula Memorial Park, 12750 Warwick Boulevard, Newport News, VA 23606.
