WILLIAMSBURG — We lost our family matriarch, Geraldine G. McKinley, on Saturday, April 9, 2022, in Williamsburg, VA at the age of 85. She was born in Rocky Mount, VA where she spent part of her childhood, before moving to Miami, FL. She graduated from Edison High School in 1954. Gerry moved back to VA in the early 1970’s, where she lived out the rest of her life surrounded by her family. In which eventually expanded generations including great-grandchildren. Gerry had an impressive career in banking for 30+ years. She started as a teller and was promoted over the years up to vice president. Gerry also worked with the York County Treasurer’s Office and retired after 16 years of service.
Gerry, affectionately known as GMack by her family, was passionate about getting the family together for holidays. Thanksgiving and Christmas were filled with family, food, fun, and lots of laughter. We will never forget her famous Easter Egg hunts. GMack will always be remembered for her humor, her wit, and her fiery attitude. She was unapologetically strong, independent, loyal, and passionate about her family. She always kept everyone on their “P’s and Q’s”. GMack absolutely loved to read, do daily crossword puzzles, and picture puzzles. Her love for shopping with her granddaughters never failed, often getting her in trouble with her husband. GMack also loved her bowling and bingo nights with her best friend.
Gerry’s love for her family’s fur babies, as well as her own, was always something special. Especially Miss Gracie Mae (seen in photo), she was her world. Gerry had a passion to help others and showed it by volunteering with crisis health groups and at the hospital in her off time. She was also very thankful for the new friends she made in recent years with her Waters Edge Bible study group.
Her family hopes that she’s rockin’ with the “King of Rock” Elvis and is happy to be reunited with her husband of 51 years Art; her brother, Dennis; her sister, Betty and her best friend, Judy. She is survived by her sister, Linda (husband, Bob); her sons, “the boys”, Joey (wife, Jeanie), Lee, and Pat; her nephew, Steve; her seven grandchildren, Jenny, Ben (wife, Rachel), Megan, Ashley (husband, Sean), Danielle, Fred, and Dylan and her 11 great grandchildren, Brandon, Makayla, Nathan, Jackson, Nick, Hailey, Annalee, Chloe, Amari, Rosalié, and Jr.
There will never be another that could compare, GMack was one of a kind and will truly be missed by all.
Her Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, April 24th, 2022 at 502 Musket Dr. in Williamsburg, VA from 1pm to 4pm. Please come by and celebrate her amazing life with us, share some stories, and hopefully some laughs as we join together in this difficult time.
