Marvin A. Gaylor Jr., 88, of West Point

WEST POINT — Marvin A. Gaylor Jr., 88, of West Point, VA passed away peacefully March 13, 2022. He was a graduate of the Newport News Shipyard Apprentice school and a had a full career there as a nuclear inspector before retirement. While in the Apprentice School, he met the love of his life, Wilma Gail Edwards, whom he would marry and spend 65 blessed years with. Marvin had a great love for God, his family and golf. He looked forward to teaching Sunday School and then playing golf as often as weather permitted.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Gladys Gaylor. He is survived by his wife, Gail; two daughters, Cindy Jordan and Karen Byrd (Jack); four grandchildren, Matthew Jordan, Phillip Jordan (Katie), Rick Byrd, and Stephanie Wishon (Zach); as well as two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Logan Wishon.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 PM, Thursday, March 17th at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th St., West Point, VA. A funeral service will be held 2 PM, Friday, March 18th at First Baptist Church West Point, 414 Main St., West Point.
