
WILLIAMSBURG — Surrounded by his family, Charles “Chuck” Davis, 79, answered God’s call and went home to meet his Lord on March 12, 2022. He lived in Mechanicsville for nearly 25 years and due to health reasons, recently moved to reside at the Dominion Village in Williamsburg.
He was raised in James City County where he graduated from James Blair in 1960. Upon receiving the call to preach, he moved his family to NC where he graduated from the Southeastern Theological Seminary and began a life of service to his Lord. He served as a pastor at numerous churches in NC and Virginia. He worked as a federal government employee at Ft. Eustis and later retired from government service at Fort AP Hill. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Liberty Baptist Church. He was proud of the years he volunteered with the James City/Bruton Fire Department and the New Kent Fire Department.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Waverly and Glennis Davis; first wife, Mary Helen; his daughter, Tammy and his son, Mark.
He is survived by his sisters, Norma Wyatt and Patsy Farmer (Buddy); daughter Beth Lawrence (Tracy); grandchildren, Steven Davis, Heather Benton, Brittany Coates and Ashley McClure-Altman; nine great grandchildren; daughter in law, Juanita Davis; numerous nieces and nephews and his wife, Margaret of Florida.
A funeral service will be held 2PM Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at Liberty Baptist Church, Lanexa VA. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to either the JC-Bruton Fire Department, 3135 Forge Rd, Toana, VA 23168 or the West Point Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box X, West Point, VA 23181.
