WILLIAMSBURG — God sent His Angels with perfect love to call Roland T. Wallace, Sr. home for eternal rest with Him on Monday, March 7, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. His life began on September 11, 1935, to William and Alma Wallace in Magruder, Virginia.

He graduated from Bruton Heights School. He later attended and graduated from North Carolina A & T with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. Roland was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Incorporated. Following graduation from college he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged after faithfully serving his country for three years.

At an early age, he accepted Christ as his Personal Savior and became a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. The last position he held before his health declined was one he cherished as Elder Roland T. Wallace.

He retired from Colonial Williamsburg after thirty-three years of service and later retired from Anheuser Busch after twenty-three years of service. Roland was the first African American to work for H & R Block and did so for twenty-seven years.

Roland was a kind, loving, and giving person who was a joy and inspiration to his family and friends. He was strong-willed and firm, but extremely fair to all his family. He endured his illness with dignity and courage. Roland always expressed his undying faith in God and His mercy. He will greatly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Odell Frink, LaVerne Roby, Eloise Hill, and Raymond Wallace. He leaves to cherish blessed memories his wife of sixty-three years, Vivian Wallace; children, Roland Wallace Jr. (Julia), Brigetta Spencer (Larry), Chris Wallace and Rayette Wallace; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and many other loving relatives and caring friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.  Live stream will be available at the beginning of the service.  Interment to follow in the church cemetery.  Elder Wallace may be viewed from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday in the church.  Facial coverings are required for all services.
