GLOUCESTER — Philip Martin Fostek, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at age 89. Philip loved, and was always there for, his family and friends. A longtime resident of West Point, he and his wife moved to Gloucester, on the York River, in 1994 after retiring from Chesapeake Corp. with 41 years of service. He served in the Korean War from 1950-1952 with the 25th Infantry Division 65th Combat Engineer Battalion. He was president of the 467 International Pulp Workers Union, Commander of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, coached little league baseball, boy scout leader, and participated in many other organizations. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping, and golf. He worked two jobs most of his life. His last was buying and selling real estate which he enjoyed very much. Philip and his wife traveled to many places including Hawaii, Alaska, and Europe. Cruised to many places including the Caribbean and Panama Canal.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Kathleen Fostek, son Franklin, and grandson Sean. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Anna, son Jeffrey, and his wife Cathy, grandson Nicholas, and special friend Jackie Fostek. Philip was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gloucester. Family will receive friends from 6 pm-7:30 pm on Thursday 2/24 at Vincent Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Theresa Catholic Church Building Fund 6262 Main St., Gloucester, VA, 23061. Funeral service will be held at 11am on Friday 2/25 at Vincent Funeral Home with burial to follow at Sunny Slope Cemetery, West Point, VA.
