Brenda Byrd, 66, of Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Brenda Byrd entered eternal rest on January 13, 2022. She was born on January 1, 1956, to the late George W. and Alma C. White. She was also preceded in death by her sister Dr. Debra White-Coleman.

At an early age, Brenda joined Chickahominy Baptist Church at an early age, she was educated in the Williamsburg-James City County Public Schools, where she found her love of poetry. Brenda was also employed at Colonial Williamsburg for over 15 years.

Brenda was a loving person and a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to spend time with her family, cooking, writing poetry, and loved to dress to impress! She was a dedicated and loyal person who would stand in the line of fire for anyone whom she loved, a true soldier.

She leaves to cherish fond memories her beloved children, Siima Byrd, Herman T. Byrd III (Lynn), and Randell Reed; nine grandchildren, Kitana Byrd, Shayla Byrd, Cierra Byrd, Curtis Simmonds, Telisha Harris, Khameron Byrd, Alayah Byrd, Kamari Byrd, and Royce Reed; great-grandson, Kymir Dubois; niece, Sarah Coleman; nephews, Matthew Coleman (Julie), Jamal Coleman, and Marc Coleman (Erin); brother-in-law, Malcolm Coleman; and a host of cousins and friends whom all loved her dearly.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, January 24, 2022, in Whiting’s Funeral Home.  Livestream will be available at the beginning of the service. Interment to follow in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery.  Ms. Byrd may be viewed on Monday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until the hour of her service in the funeral home.  Facial coverings are required for all services.  Memorial contributions are being accepted https://www.gofundme.com/f/3uq6gs-help-her-rest-easy
