
WILLIAMSBURG — Beth Lynne Bailey Unaitis, age 83, passed away on December 6, 2021, after a three-year battle with Alzheimer’s. She joins her parents Lester and Fern Bailey at home with the Lord. A kind and caring soul, she was a friend to many. Wife of Bill Unaitis, they were married for 61 years. She was the mother of Jeff, David (Barbra) and Laurie Haines (Kevin). Grandmother “Mimi” to three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Tyler Unaitis and Katie Haines. Surviving family include a sister, Diane Drinkard (Jim) in Williamsburg and a brother, Ned Bailey (Jill) in Friday Harbor, Washington. She was born in Canton, Ohio, grew up in Akron (Ellet High School) and graduated from Allen Park High School in Michigan. Beth was a RN, graduating from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit in 1959.
While in Washington, D.C. she was proud to have been able to assist multiple Aids patients while working in an infectious disease clinic in those trying years of the 90s. In D.C. she was also a docent at the Library of Congress and here, in Williamsburg, she was a volunteer at Sentara Hospital and Colonial Williamsburg. She loved to travel. Reading, visiting friends and relatives and feeding wildlife in her backyard were her favorite past times.
