JAMES CITY COUNTY — Joyce Austin Stout peacefully went to be with the Lord on October 16, 2021. She was born on a snowy Saturday at Greenswamp Farm in James City County to Jerome and Lillian Austin on February 17, 1934.
She loved caring for her chickens, collecting her ‘hen fruit’, feeding the birds, and sharing the history and stories of her home and family. She touched many with her quirky wit and kindness.
She was greeted in heaven by her first husband, James Heck and their two sons, Jimmy and Kim Heck, along with her second husband, Bill Stout.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Lindsay and Brady Heck, great-grandchildren, her brother and sister, and many friends and extended family.
Family will welcome visitors at James River Baptist Church on Wednesday, October 20 at 12pm with service beginning at 1 p.m.
